Feasting is one of the biggest parts of the holiday seasons. And for many of us, it also a great year to get gym memberships and treadmills. Fighting Holiday Bulge One of the biggest events that we consider to be a family tradition would be the big feast. Having dinner with friends and loved ones is a big event. And it also a time when people create the biggest regrets for themselves. Overeating and filling up on delicious treats is always something that you hate when you realize what you have done. And if you are on a diet, you just can’t bear the thought of watching others enjoy the feast and the goodies. There are ways to avoid the weight gain and to avoid drooling over the fancy food that you are to set in front of. If you are the host of the big holiday party, you may not want to prepare tons of fattening food for your guests. If it is in your budget, consider hiring a caterer. With a little bit of research, you should be able to find a caterer that specializes in make low-fat foods. And they can make them to taste wonderfully and to look beautifully. Talk with different companies and find out if they charge separate prices for creating a specialty menu that is healthy for everyone. There may be lots of baked goods such as cookies, cakes, and pies that are non-fattening or lower in fats and calories. Ask them to use as much natural ingredients and fresh fruits as possible. Organic things tend to be low in calories. And you can find many guests who will appreciate a sweet treat that won’t go to their thighs. If you are not the host and find yourself in the world of fatty treats, simply limit yourself to one or two things. Portion sizes are also important as well. Just because it is on your plate, does not mean you have to finish everything that you are given. Take at least one bite of your servings so that you may be able to give feedback to family on how great it tastes. When all is said and done and you find yourself gorged on plates full of indulgences, put yourself on an exercise program that suits your level of activity and capabilities. As with any new strenuous activity or diet plan, always ask a doctor before starting a new regimen. When your doctor has concluded that you can start a program, decide what you what like to do. If you can’t afford to sign up for a gym membership, you can always tune in to local television channels that offer lots of cardio shows. Ask friends and family to help by joining in. Having someone with you to support you is always a great idea. Then you have a bigger push and drive to lose those few extra pounds. And you can trade recipes and tips with each other. The bigger the group, the more successful you may end up being. No matter what you decide to do for the holidays, just be absolutely sure that you are ready for the consequences. And if you don’t lose those pounds like you would like, be sure to have a friend that you can call to talk to. It is sometimes easier to talk to someone that can put you in the mood to better yourself. And don’t be afraid of the holidays. Don’t make food the enemy.
